Kerry's Family Benefit a Succes!!!
Community sprit was SO STRONG on Saturday, January 24, as OUR OWN WILD IRIS BOOKSTORE gave FREE VENUE and 10% of tips and sales, to the cause:
a Florida Lesbian Family in Distress. Daughter KERRY recently died from cancer, and this family is well known for having produced the Southern Women’s Festival, attended Pagoda events, Potlucks in Jacksonville and St Augustine, while both daughters grew up to be Lesbians, with all of us looking lovingly on.
A FREE CONCERT by KATHERINE ARCHER, Passing the Bucket, an AUCTON of DONATED ITEMS, a FIFTY-FIFTY RAFFLE were sucessful. Crock-pot Chili and cole slaw magically appeared (Mama Raga style,) and Wine, Beer, Coffee and Sodas were available as Cheryl served the Bar. Bernadette at the Cash register had a clear view of the Concert, and taped a segment on a brand -new Xmas digit cam. (to be posted as we learn how)
Elaine, eighty three and eager, was there , and SallieAnn who has a project up her sleeve.
Shewolf ,whose lovely handmade wooden urn has already gone to the family, so we passed a photo courtesy of Musk, whose new CAFE will open soon. Jenn W and Capt Karen brought food and helpful hands for the raffle, auction items and setting up. Barbie from St Augustine also did endless helpful things, and Ellen Allen contributed everywhere and counted the money.:JUST OVER $430 , better than our Kozmic Bluz Cafe in December. Vin was there wtih her nice energy just before her trumpet tutoring from Winton Marsalis. May we look forward to a duet on Honeysuckle Rose?
Bidding was friendly..Judy G from Melrose, two MCC St Aug women from Jax (one was Stacy’s 8th grade coach) and several who appreciated the NICE GOODS.
WORD WEAVERS generous gifts have not been EBAYED YET. We are so grateful.
MOST OF MAMARAGA’s SWEET VOLUNTEER STAFF was there and I have to say what a SPECIAL STAFF WE HAVE, even if I AM ONE. Jessie was doing Psychic Readings and gave such support, and his own Benefit event will be coming up in FEBRUARY, look for the TREE PROJECT. Bluebird, Wendy’s mom and a poet , arrived for the second wind of Katherine’s concert. Rainbow brought her Pagoda Postcard collection, 4 different stages, and early rare ones were given to co producer Dorothy Campbell, and to Kerry’s family. The rest were given to the audience as a thank you.
OUR DEEPEST THANKS TO ALL, and please know that the family: PAT, LINDA, STACY and GRANDMA appreciates you.
YOUR MESSAGES, CHECKS, CARDS and CONDOLENCES will be conveyed thru Dorothy Campbell, 36 Florida Ave St Augustine FL 32084.
